Vardenafil is mainly indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. This drug is manifested by Bayer drug company. The drug contains vardenafil hydrochloride trihydrate as the major ingredient. The medicine is available in form of tablets and or dispersible drugs.
How Levitra works?
The vardenafil acts by curbing the action of PDE 5 enzyme which is also known as phosphodiesterase type V. Erection in male is a complex chain of events. One of the most important events in this chain is the release of chemical messenger called cyclic GMP. This chemical messenger will act on the walls of arteries of penis and dilate these arteries so that they can achieve vasodilation. As a result, more blood will flow into the tumescence muscles of penis. These muscles are called corpora cavernosa and corpora spongiosum. The PDE 5 enzyme is responsible to remove the cyclic GMP and again cause vasoconstriction. Mainly the vardenafil prevents the action of this enzyme PDE 5 of phosphodiesterase type V. Thus, the name of the drug is phosphodiesterase type V inhibitor.
The cyclic GMP and work for a longer time period by the action of vardenafil.
